REQUIREMENTS FOR
ELECTRONIC MEDIA:
All your documents and files must be Macintosh formatted. Include a copy of all screen and printer fonts used. Include all graphics, EPS and TIFF files required to output film. It is important that a printed black and white and/or color proof and color separations along with any other special instructions accompany the disk. This will ensure that all the correct information is contained on the disk and your order will ship on time.
CAMERA READY ART: Clean black on white art board, with sharp clean lines sized to fir the selected product. Laser printer outputs of 600 dpi or higher are recommended. Photocopies, letterheads, fax copies, business cards and newsprint ads are not considered camera ready art.
TRAPPING: The Process of overlapping adjacent colors to avoid registration problems. Trapping, also called choke and spread, is necessary in screen printing. If you submit your artwork on a Macintosh formatted disk we will apply the recommended trapping of 1.5 pt. to your artwork.
BLEEDS: A bleed is considered when the image runs beyond the edge of the product. Therefore, we require an extra 3/16” beyond the sealing edge of the product you are ordering. If your artwork has excess floods, please contact your sales representative. Some inks will compromise printing quality when flooding through hinge and sealing areas. FOILS AND METALLIC INKS CAN NOT BLEED OR GO THROUGH THE HINGES!
SCREENS-
HALFTONES-
GRADUATED
SCREENS:
Screens are percentages which range from 0%-100 of a specific ink color. Haltones are images created by a variety of dots instead of solid ink coverage. Graduated screen fills are areas of color that gradually change from light to dark. Screens below 10% will not print. Screens higher than 80% will print solid. Please keep screens between 10% and 80%. If artwork is submitted electronically we will apply the recommended specifications to achieve a high quality imprint, unless otherwise specified. Resolution recommended at 1200 dpi, Line screen recommended at 65 lpi, Screen Angle recommended at 22.5°.
FILM: If film is being submitted please follow the recommended specifications. Positive w/ emulsion up, resolution recommended at 1200 dpi, line screen recommended at 65 lpi, screen angle recommended at 22.5°.
INK COLORS:
TEXTURED &
Since most color swatches are shown on a white background, it is sometimes difficult to achieve the same hue when printing on a colored background.
EXPANDABLE
MATERIALS:
As with any textured or expandable material it is sometimes difficult to reproduce small type, thin lines, a good quality screen, foil stamp, RF stamp, or hold a tight registration. When creating your artwork you must take into consideration the detail of the artwork and the material it will be applied on. If you have any questions please call the art department.
DETAILED ARTWORK: As with any textured substrate it is sometimes difficult to reproduce small type, thin lines, a good quality screen or detailed graphics. When creating your artwork you must take into consideration the thickness of lines and size of fonts being used, especially fonts with serifs. Lines less than 1.5 pt will compromise printing quality. Use the 1.5 pt line rule to determine the size of the font. If you have any questions please contact the art department.

Because of the metal in the foil and the metallic powder used in the inks, the RF in the sealing process will react with the metallic inks or foil used and can not bleed or go through the hinge area. Artwork must be a maximum size of the board dimension used. Please contact the art department for dimensions needed.
